10 Day Raw Cleanse & Juicing
by admin on Sep.07, 2011, under My Life, Veganism, Vegetariansim
Already a juice junkie, my friend Al recommended we watch Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead. Thanks to Netflix instant play we watched it last week. I was inspired.
So yesterday I started a 10 day raw vegan cleanse. The goal is to have a green juice smoothie for breakfast and lunch and then only raw veggies for evening meals and snacks. No alcohol, tea of coffee.
So far I’m feeling GREAT. A green smoothie gives me the same pick-me-up as a cup of coffee but without the jitters. Most of all I feel so light and energized. My stomach doesn’t feel all heavy and sluggish like it usually does after many meals. But its only day two so we shall see how it goes.
Apple Picking

Trevor, Darren and joined two of our friends for a drive out to the country. We visited barne sales, pumpkin patched a apple orchards. Darren and I found same great thing for the appartment. And we all bought way much food.
Darren to the rescue

Sunday June 28th I woke up with a fever body aches and sore throat. I was bummed ad it meant I would miss walking with the NYC council in the NYC pride parade and all of the days festivities.
That week Darren and I had exchanged a few emails and texts admitting to each other that we were only missing each other more not less as the weeks went by (It had been about 6 weeks since the breakup.) I still saw no real potential for getting back together but I couldn’t help myself from yearning for the possibility.
Darren texted my Sunday morning asking if I was going to the parade. I informed him I was staying home sick. Around 1pm my buzzer rang. When I heard his voice on the other end I was overwhelmed with emotion. When I opened the door we just stood for a second looking at each other. It was surreal, I hadn’t seen him in a month and a half and being that I moved right after the breakup it was weird having him standing at my new Williamsburg apartment. “I brought you food.” he said as he held up the Whole food bag he was carrying. We embraced and held each other for a long time. We were both shaking and close to tears. “It pride, I didn’t want you to be alone.” He said, partly choked up.
He ended up staying the entire day. And to the disappointment of his friends canceled his planned pride festivities. We talked a few times cried as we sorted out the issues that had lead to the breakup. Both of us admitted that being our first major relationship we had taken a lot for granted. We were afraid of rushing back into things, but I didn’t care. So I asked him if we could be official again.
He then took me to a great French restaurant that sits in a small stone building under the J Train. Overall it was one of the best days of my life. And these last two weeks since being back together have been amazing. (The photo is from dinner.)
Rooomate Dinner
by admin on Jun.18, 2009, under My Life
Yesterday evening my roomates and I decided to have a Roomate dinner. We have all already gotten to know each other really well but we thought it would be nice to set aside time to officially get to know each other better. Alex made a pine nut sundried tomatoe pasta. He recommended we each write three questions on scraps of paper. We then spent the evening taking turns pulling put the scraps at random and each sharing our answer to the question at hand. It’s was a really great evevning and we shared stories from everything such as what we thought was the scarriest monster to humanities progress in the next 100 years.
My Williamsburg Apartment

Here is the outside of my new apartment building. I live on the top floor. It’s not a fun climb but there are two major perks: 1. Nice legs. 2) Lots of light. 3) Close to the roofdeck. Ok that’s three. (The guy casualy leaning against the front rail is my roommate Adam.)
Dresser from the curb
by admin on Jun.15, 2009, under My Life, NYC Adventures
On our way home from the BBQ at Metropolitan I spotted a dresser on the curb with a “free” sign taped to the top. The dresser was in great condition, solid wood, with it’s original handles. Being that we were a good 12 blocks (1/3 mile) from home I was skeptical the we could carry it. Adam however was encouraging and said he thought we could do it. It was heavy, but we stopped halfway and ate pastries from a Dominican bakery. And so 12 blocks and four stories later I have an awesome new dresser that will probably be moved to many apartments with me in the future.
Dual of the roomates
by admin on Jun.15, 2009, under My Life
Saturday Adam was really cold so he wore Martha’s jacket home. The next morning Kaaren had a good time making fun of him for looking like a Shakespeare character and made him put on the jacket again. She then threw on another and challenged him to a dual.

Today was kaaren’s last full day in NYC. Tomorrow she heads to Germany to begin a job curating for a museum. We met up with her friend Martha and headed to a local coffee shop.
Awesome Interns

On Monday our new intern on the digital team started. To make her feel welcome we got the other interns together and took Angela out to lunch. These girls are so great to work with. I don’t know how they do it but Fleishman seems to be really good at finding high quality candidates.
My new wingmen, Todd & Kyle
by admin on Jun.08, 2009, under My Life
So as corney as this is I wanted to write a post introducing my friends and family to my new wing men. You will probably be hearing about them all the time, so now you’ll know whom I’m referring to.
Todd is a architect currently working under a registered architect. After a few more years he will be eligible to take the exam that will grant him his license. He to recently broke up from a long term relationship. We met a month ago when I accompanied my friend to a party at Todd’s house.
Kyle and I met randomly in times square over 4 months ago. We were both showing around girl friends who were visiting. I asked him to take a picture of my friend Kelly and I. We then started chatting and I invited them to go out dancing with us. Todd is a dancer who works as a retail manager between gigs.
