Willard visits NYC

by admin on May.18, 2009, under My Life, NYC Adventures

Willard, a friend from BYUI, was in the city this weekend for work. Although we had been in the same group of friends my last semester at BYUI, I had never had the opportunity to really chat with the guy. I had always admired his true originalty. But this weekend I was imprssed as I came to find out how deep, compassionate and mature Willard is.

We started off at a house party and then made our way to the East Village where our gang danced the remainder of the night away. The sun was just coming up as we were falling asleep.

Saturday in Williamsburg

by admin on May.05, 2009, under My Life, NYC Adventures

Wanting to get out for the day Darren and I headed to Williamsburg on Saturday. We shopped at thrift stores. Well actually it would be more accurate to say I shopped while Darren was a good sport and would periodically browse the racks looking for stuff I might like. They were probably some of the best thrift stores I have been to and I found a

handful of items. Being vegetarian I try not to buy leather so when I can find second hand leather shoes I feel it’s a good compromise.

The area was full of small cafes and restaraunts. We spotted one in a rooftop and after checking out the brunch menu decided to stay. It is seriously times like this where I question if any city can rival NYC (well at least any US city.)

I stopped a theft

by admin on May.04, 2009, under My Life, NYC Adventures

Saturday night (after the Yanni concert) we met up with Devon and Brian in Brooklyn. We made our way to a local club. A girl came up to me and asked to dance. We danced for a song or so. She admitted she was trying to introduce me to her friend she was with. When I explained I had a boyfriend she laughed and we booth turned our attention back to our respective friends. Fifteen minutes later Devon was going around flustered asking everyone if they had seen his bag. I noticed the girl was gone, and not having had the best feeling about her I decided to look for her. I found her near the exit. Not wanting to accuse her of stealing I said “my friend lost his bag do you think you may have picked it up by accident?” It was then that I noticed she had two bags. She said no, they were both her’s and said something about being from out of town. I had no idea what Devons bag looked liked so I immeditaly started looking for him. A few minutes later I found him and told him about what had just happened and described the two bags. We booked it back to the exit. The girl was gone… We walked outside, and spotted here down the sidewalk. Devon recognized his bag and started yelling at her to give him back his bag. Feeling a little awkward by the situation I hung back near the building. After getting it back we searched through it and were relieved to find his shirt, camera and sunglasses were still there.
